Chipper Days have arrived!

Sign up here

Residents who want free chipper services are encouraged to sign up online today. You will be notified as soon as enough homes are signed up in your area for a local chipper crew from Lost Coast Tree and Habitat to come to your neighborhood and chip your debris pile free of charge. This grant-funded program is building off a successful model first launched in Shelter Cove in 2018, and is intended to make more southern Humboldt towns better prepared for wildfire season.

Southern Humboldt residents living in the communities listed above who are interested in this service are encouraged to fill out the interest form and view the CHIPPING GUIDELINES. Vegetation Material can be up to 8 inches in diameter and 5 feet long and must be stacked neatly in 5x5x5’ piles with cut ends of branches facing toward the street, driveway, or turnout so that it can be easily picked up and placed in the chipper. Crews can spend up to one hour per household, which equates to roughly eight neatly stacked piles.

This program is brought to you by the Humboldt County Department of Public Works on behalf of the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council and in partnership with the Shelter Cove Resort Improvement District, Trees Foundation, and Southern Humboldt Fire Safe Council. Funding for this program is provided by CAL FIRE’s Fire Prevention Program through the California Climate Investments Program.
